NYC BEDROOM

February 18, 2018

The bedroom.  The bedroom is where I retreat to. At the end of the day, this is where my fiance and I meet.  We talk about the day, catch up on shows, "do a little dance, make a little love." So it should go without saying that alot of love and attention (and labor) went into making this room special.

I was lucky to walk into a newly renovated place.  It's fun to work with a blank canvas.   It's also a good thing my fiance and I have similar taste in home decor which made the process move alot smoother.

I'll start this off by giving you a breakdown of what was used to pull this room together.  You can click the images for more details or to purchase.  You can also find before and after images at the end of this post.  I do hope you like the transformation.  It's no million-dollar home, but it's home to me.

THE BED.

The star of the show is surely the bed.  And wouldn't you know it's a Bob-o-pedic mattress.  No, I didn't have to shell out over $7,000 for a memory foam bed.  Try less than $3,000, soup to nuts. It's a King size bed to boot so I practically have my own zip code. You lay in this bed and it just wraps itself around you and hugs you. I never want to leave this bed. It's bliss.

Though the bed was purchased in-store.  I try to order everything online.  I can't tell you how much easier it makes my life. The items I ordered are pretty easy to assemble on your own, but Amazon offers assembly services as well!

So I purchased the headboard and bedspread thru Amazon.

Brookside Headboard. This piece is upholstered with linen-inspired fabric and beautifully tufted in diamond pattern. It's a pretty sturdy bed altogether.  The price was right too. Wasn't even $300.

The Chic Home Olivia 20-Piece Comforter Set is reversible. It's a complete Bed in a Bag with sheet set, window treatments, and decorative pillows.  Pretty cool deal.  I feel like I'm getting 2 sets for the price of one.  The Chic Home Olivia comforter is made with premium quality cotton-feel brushed microfiber. Light and airy but oh so warm.

BESIDE TABLE & ACCESSORIES

Because we were limited in space in the old apartment I used dressers for bedside tables to maximize on storage  They were purchased at Ikea. Sadly, I believe the 4-drawer dresser may have been discontinued as it's no longer available on their website.  I did, however, find something that was relatively close to what I have that is also easy on the pockets.

The ioHOMES Nobu 4-Drawer Dresser with Tempered Glass, (Cappuccino). A simple yet chic designed chest features four drawers and a tempered glass front accent panel. Laminate beech finish; silver finished base; two nickel finished knobs on each drawer panel.

The dressers are adorned with these simple, yet chic pieces:

On to THE CLOSET.  It's no walk-in, but it's definitely bigger than what we had and provides a good amount of storage.  Still it needed a touch of organization.  I went with the most economical choice available thru Amazon Prime membership so that I could receive it in two days.  If you're a tee shirt and stretch pants kind of gal like me, then this hanging closet organizer is the most optimal.  Just fold 'em and shove 'em.

WINDOW TREATMENTS

The drapes shown here are pretty decent blackout curtains.  They're thick which totally helps with the small drafts. More importantly, it keeps the light out in the morning when you're still trying to catch some much required Zzzs.

STORAGE BENCH

Now that I have a little more room in this apartment, I have this lovely storage bench to keep my bed linens in.

Simpli Home Hamilton Rectangular Storage Ottoman Bench in Slate Grey. Durable tufted diamond design to match the headboard. Internal storage with easy lift top lid and child safety hinge.  Nail head trim.

Lastly, this wooden armchair.  This is the closest match I could find to the original.  The original shown in the photos below is my father's. I'm not sure where he purchased this chair but I love it.  So it's mine now.  Every time I look at it, sit in it, I think of my Dad.

Amazonia Milano Eucalyptus Armchair.

 Armchair Dimensions: 19L x 22W x 35H.

Armchair Seat Dimensions: 18D x 20W x 16H.
Natural Color Wood. Could be used indoors or outdoors.

BEFORE & AFTER.

That pretty much sums it up.  The room is still a working progress.  The walls could sure use a little love.  Some sconces maybe. Perhaps a canvas of the NYC skyline?  Everything in it's time though.  Right now all I can think of is crawling into my bed and having a snuggle session.  I'll post some updates later once the wall decor is up.  But for now, I share with you my NYC Bedroom.
